Funding & Support
The Our Place programme offers local people and groups help to develop their ideas and projects both through practical support and funding.
Support From Our Place Connectors
Our Place Douglas is being delivered by Community Enterprise Ltd and Community Renewal Scotland who are specialists in community development, social enterprise and project planning. Both Community Enterprise Ltd. and Community Renewal Sctoland are able to offer a range of support from connecting people, training and building confidence, developing ideas & getting projects off the ground through to long term planning, funding and sustainability.
Support from the Our Place Auchmuty Community Chest is available to help you support an activity. You can apply for funding of around £250 if you can show us that:
- The activity will take place in the Our Place neighbourhood
- There are at least four people involved
- Everyone is prepared to contribute their time, energy and talents
If you want to apply for more than £250 then please discuss this with the Our Place team.
The Big Lottery has set aside funding to support Our Place projects. To find out if your idea or project may be eligible for other types of funding, you can find application guidelines and criteria on The Big Lottery’s website.
If you would like to apply for Our Place funding or find out about other funding possibilities, please contact Dave Park from Community Enterprise: email@example.com or Susan Smith from Dundee Social Enterprise Network: firstname.lastname@example.org.
About Community Enterprise
We help communities, charities and social enterprises to make good things happen, from food initiatives and credit unions to community run sports facilities, we help organisations become more sustainable by generating income and moving away from grant funding.
We’re a social enterprise and our mission is to help people gain the capacity and confidence to improve their community through enterprise. We’re a small professional team that provide personalised support to individuals and groups. Each member of the team has an area of specialist knowledge such as accounting, fundraising, marketing and impact measurement.
We deliver support when it’s needed. We charge for large pieces of work, such as business plans, and all of the profit we generate is used to subsidise free support. This allows us to build long term supportive relationships with our clients.
About Community Renewal Scotland
We take a people first approach to help deal with a range of issues and gain trust. With those who are not working a personal plan is developed towards improving health and economic activity. Others may be supported into voluntary or community activity.
Once trust has been built up we use a case management approach whereby people are introduced to partner agencies at the grass roots level who work with the project team as part of a neighbourhood multi-disciplinary team. Community work is also undertaken by the project to tackle some of the environmental and social problems that contribute to stress, ill-health and low morale in the neighbourhood. This is part of our holistic approach. Tackling confidence and health barriers means getting the welcome right – this means creating an environment that is friendly and safe.
At each Community Renewal Centre the door is always open and people can drop in for a chat and cup of tea. Community Renewal has also developed a detailed database record of all the contacts made, people’s views, their desires and barriers. We also keep “stories” – narratives of individual histories and progress. Increasingly this is also giving us an overall picture of the assets of the community.
